Good Mornin! off today so im going to moms to clean out her fridge and gather some more of her personal items. she is moving in with my sister who has a basement apt. that way we can keep an eye on her during her rehab. she wont be going back to house. if she gets well enough she wants a small apt of her own. My diet is going well. im really enjoying it but still looking to add protein. i try to aim for 40-40-20 split. i miss quite often because of hectic life right now. went to tumbleweed for a nice lunch with my son. there werent too many options for me there so i had a grilled chicken sandwich without the bun. and applesauce (which i didnt eat because i wasnt sure of the calorie count) i didnt get the grilled veggies because they were just under 200 calories for about a half cup! butter and oil i suppose. im wondering if i can up my calorie count to 1200 per day and still lose weight.. idk

I would DEFINATELY say you can up your calories... They do say you shouldn't go BELOW 1200 or your body will go into starvation mode - particularly if you are active. I am trying very hard to eat at least 1400 now (previously. Was on 1,000-1,200). Trouble is your body get used to low calories and re-adjusts itself - so you may then stop loosing. It doesn't hurt to go a bit mad OCCASIONALY. There are lots of instances on this site, where people's weight loss has stalled - they up their calories and start loosing again - some dramatically loose.

yeah i did the math and am losing 3 lbs per week which is very nice but i know it isnt the right way to do it. i just have this scary feeling like last time i added 100 more calories which obviously went ok! thank you for the advice and i will start today!

Know what you mean... Cause I am the same - but we have to experiment, to see what RDI is right for our bodies, t the time. After all, eventually you will have to up them :-). Good luck

What you were saying about increasing protein, jogged my memory... To get rid of fat, encourage lean, they say you should eat approx one gram of protein for every pound of your body weight and approx o.45-1grm of fat for every pound... Just to add to your thinking process - the formula is on the bodybuilder.com website somewhere, and it gives you exact breakdowns. But the weights I quoted are pretty close.... Just to give you an idea of what you are aiming for. It's hard to eat that much protein an I am really bad at eating fat - but apparently your body needs it and burns more calories if you eat it... I remember watching a tv prog where they got twins.. One was on low fat and the other ate fat stuff.... They ate same amount of calories - the one who had the fat lost more weight!! Makes you wonder why we choose low fat and fat free stuff! Years ago they though fat made you fat.... But they have now found that isn't true - it's simple carbs that make you fat - ie refined stuff, White bread,White rice, White pasta, cakes, sugar etc

i dont mind the good fat from nuts and stuff. i have cut out most of the refined stuff. i do eat some bagel thins sometimes but i got some whole wheat ones today. that is good info on the fat. i did read something like that somewhere. i am trying to add more protein. im having to do it slowly only because i dont have a lot of free time right now to do the research. i upped my cals to 1200 and am trying harder to add more protein. i bought some sunflower seeds today for when i need the xtra cals and want to add them as protein and not carbs
