Thanks! I discovered the local gourmet/liquor store sells duck breast (Maple Leaf Brand) frozen. So on night when my husband wants something that I shouldn't eat, I have the duck. He doesn't care for game or dark meat, so there's not jealousy haha

Duck is absolutely delish. So are their eggs. I have always liked the fattier meats, and this is definitely one of them!

Glad you took it well Pixie. People can get really weird when they see people eat stuff they do not eat. It is a funny thing.

OH NO! Don't let @keyten77 see this! She might tell us she eats balut! (I learned about that when I taught a missionary story to kinds at church MANY years ago. That's something you don't forget easily!)

I just googled Balut... I can see why you haven't forgotten that! I have never had duck eggs @jazzylittleone, but I have had goose eggs and they were very good.

Eggs freak me out. I can only eat already boiled and packaged [I buy organic free-range/grass fed] and liquid eggs alike Egg Beaters. Fried? Nope. Poached. NOOOOO. Over easy ... NEVER. I make scrambled and omelets from the liquid eggs. Good enough for me.

@Keyten77 it seems that balut is pretty popular, I think for someone who has never had it, getting past the visual aspect is probably the challenge! @catzz2 my husband cannot eat any egg where the yolk is in the least bit runny. Even if I hard boil them, and there is maybe a little orangy or dark yellow bit in the center of the yolk, that goes right in the garbage haha. Or I eat it.

I had to look up "balut." (I'd rather mop up egg yolk with toasted, well-buttered rye bread!) From Wikipedia: "a developing bird embryo that is boiled and eaten from the shell. It originated from and is commonly sold as street food in the Philippines. Often served with beer, balut is popular in Southeast Asian countries, such as Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. The Tagalog and Malay word balot means 'wrapped'."
