Debbie Cousins's Journal, 25 Nov 22

Was going to post some pictures this morning, but I couldn't get them to load properly - one was of the turkey, another of my plate from Thanksgiving dinner, and a third of my Christmas Tree all aglow (my husband finally let me open the blinds so people can see that it is up - he thought it was too early before today).

Very pleased with how yesterday went. Several people commented on how moist and tender the turkey was, and everyone loved the Pepper Jack Mac & Cheese, several comments about how great the fresh string beans were (seasoned with salt pork fat back), and 3/4 of the Rum Cake was taken home by people (because most of us were too full to eat dessert at the get-together).

I brought home lots of leftovers, which I will share with my twin friends today, and with my grandson who is coming over to spend the night after I take him for an eye exam and to get glasses today.

I did something I haven't done in months last night! I woke up in the middle of the night and got something to eat (a slice of Dave's Killer Good Seed bread toasted with butter - something I used to get up EVERY night to have!) I think it was because I was too full from lunch to actually have dinner last night. It's okay, and works into my food schedule just fine. NOT going to get back to the habit of doing that, though. It was a one-time thing. Over and done with.

My daughter made 17 ramekins of crème brulee yesterday (the number of guests we had for dinner - not at my house, though - at my MIL's), and she sent all of the leftovers home with me. NINE of them. I froze them and will try to NOT eat one of them a day every day until they are all gone. They're only about 217 calories each, because there is just about 3 ounces of creme brulee in the 5oz disposable ramekins. I weigh each one to record it.

Ok, gotta finish all my normal stuff by about 10am this morning to go get my grandson, because I know I won't get it done after he arrives. He's so sweet! When they got to my MIL's full house of people yesterday, he ran straight to me with a big hug.

First thing on the list: get in my first 1/2 mile of walking!
