Debbie Cousins's Journal, 11 Dec 22

Well, going over my target of 1,450 was a mistake this morning. It led to me increasing my calories considerably to an average of 1,556 daily! The sugar-free candy did help this morning, but my increased calorie intake today may sabotage my weigh-in for tomorrow morning.

I think one of the new medications that I am taking is causing me to retain fluid. My ankles have been getting indentions where my socks are. That didn't used to happen, because I wear diabetic socks (even though I'm not diabetic, PTL!) One of the medications is for excessive sweating - it makes me very thirsty, and has not eliminated the sweating. The other is an antibiotic for a fungal/yeast infection everywhere skin touches skin. I've been battling this for several months, and it is no better. Have a follow-up appointment with the dermatologist in two weeks. Been on the new meds for three weeks now. I should be seeing some results by now, but I'm not.

Knee was very bad again today - ended up using the Voltaren twice, and taking 1/2 pain pill twice.

Keeping my grandson for 26 hours was a challenge, even though he was VERY good. He even did laps with me around the house to get in my mile and a half yesterday and today. We took turns with who led (and got to hold the phone), lol. He actually got in a lot more exercise than I did on the circuit. I walked (slowly, because of the knee pain). A couple of times he amped it up by crawling (fast) behind me or walking like a T-Rex, walking backwards, etc. It made the time go faster having him along for the walk.

New week tomorrow. Going to raise my daily calorie target to 1,650 this week, since it will include a church Christmas party and I have no idea what the offerings will be. We're bringing Franklin Nut Cake, See's Fudge, Peppermint Bark and homemade (by my husband) Pimiento Cheese spread with crackers and Five-Cup Salad (a dessert with equal parts of marshmallows, coconut, pecans, mandarin oranges, pineapple tidbits, maraschino cherries and sour cream). I know, I know, it should be called Seven-Cup Salad because we add the coconut and pecans to the original recipe.

Ok, I've babbled on long enough! Time to turn on the Christmas tree so I can watch it rotate for an hour before bedtime.

I wonder if using a walker would help ease your knee pain. It eases my ankle pain somewhat.
