Debbie Cousins's Journal, 05 Jan 24

Not doing nearly as well as I expected to in this new year. Didn’t meet my 2-mile-a-day walking goal for 2 out of the past 5 days. Calories way over the 1,800 target I was hoping to reach. Fiber and Protein lacking. Only drank water on Monday and only 1 bottle (total!) since then. Only did PT exercises once this week.

Things that are going well: I finished my Bible-in-a-Year reading program on schedule. I’ve been faithful on doing my piano practices, and things are coming together much more quickly for me now than when I first started, and I got promoted to Level 2. I survived (barely) having my grandson out of school for over 2 weeks. I think some absence would definitely make my heart grow fonder at this point.

Also, doing terrible about getting up and eating during the night. I went to bed at 5. Woke up at 8:30, and have had a bowl of homemade potato soup with croutons in it, and 2 King’s Hawaiian rolls with butter on them.

Your grandson is so fortunate to have you! There are so many stresses in your life. How are you feeling? On the first, you mentioned feeling unwell. We were waiting to see how sick you would get. The hospitals here in Southern California are full with people with respiratory illnesses.

LOL. Now that you have your grandson back in school maybe things can get back to normal. This diet business is a full time job.

I totally sympathize. I love my granddaughter, but I'm also glad she is now back in school. A routine for her is a must, and for me!

I understand the frustration with having kids out of school. I love my kids but having 11 year old boy/girl twins home for nearly 2 weeks was hard on me too.

Praise the Lord, my grandson goes to his dad’s house on Friday night and doesn’t come back until Sunday night. I’ve totally taken the day OFF today. Went back to bed this morning and slept until 10:30. Unfortunately, I’ve also taken it off from my exercising self-control, walking, PT exercises, drinking water, getting in Fiber or Protein - you name it. I’ve had two coffee cake muffins with icing 🧁 today! I had SO hoped 1/1 would be the start of a good year!

Have just discovered a truth: If I drink something hot when I am "snacky", it satisfies! How come that took 81 years to learn?

Hi Debbie, You will find your stride and then the will power and motivation will get on board. I'm struggling with having a delayed start to this year and being in it to win it. Lets get it going together.
