After a weekend when I worked so hard that blood sugar was low no matter what I ate, I learned the value of not being sedentary. Saw a great show on science channel about the real use of fat: as reserves for long, hard stints of action. they showed a guy swimming the channel to Franceto lost 1 4 lbs of fat in 23 hours of swimming.
