@sumo996 if u want to lose weight u have to go in calorie deficit for example if ur body needs 2000 calory and eating 1500 then u will do fat loss by speed of 1 pound per week. Similarily if u will eat 2500 calories(500 calorie surplus) then your brother can gain weight at speed of 1 pound per week. It's easy concept.
